The film IN GOOD FAITH by German director Frauke Lodders received two awards: Both the youth jury and the exground youth days audience voted the moving drama the best feature film in the International Youth Film Competition.
The youth jury praised the film with the following words
Frauke Lodders has created a powerful and courageous feature film that explores the tension between faith, societal expectations and personal freedom. The story of Hannah and Timotheus, who grow up in a strict evangelical family, contains deep conflicts - from romantic feelings that are considered impure to manipulation by religious structures. The characters, initially stereotypes of their environment, gain an intense vitality in the turmoil of their lives. Their life crises, triggered by the conflict between personal feelings and the constraints of their community, make the film a powerful experience.
The visual design of the film was also highlighted:
The careful composition of the images authentically reflects the isolated world of the protagonists. Creative staging and deep character work result in a film with a powerful narrative that leaves the audience thinking.
In addition to the Jury Award, IN GOOD FAITH also received the Festival's Audience Award.
With IN GOOD FAITH, Frauke Lodders has created a work that courageously deals with sensitive topics such as religious manipulation and personal freedom, while at the same time captivating the audience with its visual power and emotional depth.
The exground youth days are part of the Wiesbaden film festival exground filmfest and offer young filmmakers from all over the world a platform to present their work to an international audience.
